A Growth Industry About Allergies
A Growth Industry About Allergies - American researchers have found that about 4 percent of the population has food allergies, or 12 million people. The same researchers have been studying people in China. There are surprising results. They found more than 16 percent tested is sensitive to shellfish and 12 percent for peanuts. What’s strange is that in between the practice of doctors in China, allergies are almost never diagnosed or reported as a problem. The reason for this difference is unclear.
How often do we hear people complaining their about allergies? How often do you experience any advertising for allergy sufferers? We do not fully understand the mechanism of what causes an allergic reaction. In addition there is a lot of food intolerance that is not true food allergies. The root of the problem lies in our incomplete understanding of the human immune system. Your immune system is defense 24 / 7 against harmful bacteria, viruses, and other toxins. Why and how this defense system is affected by stress, fatigue, lifestyle and social habits remains a mystery pattern. Unexpected reactions can be triggered by factors such otherwise harmless dust, mold, pollen or food.
Many things seem to cause the potential in this murky world of allergies. Sometimes we do extensive detective looking for a job for blame something that is not obvious, such as food additives like food coloring or preservatives. The first, most of my patients told me was “I did not change the detergent!” Everyone wants to blame the laundry soap. These things are rarely the cause. Actually 90 percent of all allergic reactions to food is that eight of the following: milk, eggs, peanuts, fish, shellfish, soybeans, wheat and tree nuts such as cashews and almonds. Another change is the key concept. Child allergy usually begins before age five years and changes usually get better as they age. Adults who have never had a problem also can develop a sensitivity to foods or products that never bothered them in the past. So there’s no security in thinking “That’s never happened before when I took … or eat ….” For things more confusing, people often have an intolerance to food or products that can cause abdominal pain or other symptoms of mild allergies but it really does not get reported as one. Tolerance of dairy products, wheat and gluten and even some corn products are well known and may not be allergic to the righteous.
The fact is that allergies seem to be much more common for no apparent reason. Severe allergic reactions account for 30 000 emergency room visits the year and as many as 200 deaths per year. There are many theories circulating about our culture, lifestyle, environmental reasons, pollution, and improve the detection and reporting. However, not enough to explain the experience in this country or abroad.
If you think you suffer from allergies you should consult with your doctor to discuss your symptoms and explore what is thought to trigger. Prevention program and avoid using the drug can be tailored to your needs. If suspicious symptoms are severe, you may need to consult with the allergist for testing to identify specific allergens.
