Practical Management of Wounds

What is the initial management of each before taking a patient to the hospital?
Everything depends on thewound, but usually always starts with stopping the bleeding with a tourniquet or by pressure at the wound site (to close the wound). It also should thoroughly wash the site of the lesion with soap and water. Then apply a local antiseptic, or hydrogen peroxide Isodine type, but alcohol never be applied.

When to vaccinate against tetanus?
When the wound is at risk of pollution caused or is contaminated with Clostridium tetani (tetanus microorganism producer) and wounds with sand, dirt, pavement or any object that is prone to rust. If you want to prevent, under any circumstances to occur wound with non-aseptic conditions.

When to suture or left open a wound?
Should be sutured when the wound is very deep and when it is under aseptic conditions to prevent it or contaminated. The wound should be left open as this, there is some contamination since otherwise d elo bacteria grow in the wound site and can not control the infection.

What is the normal evolution of a wound?
Once the wound is stabilized, with cleaning and infection control, it begins to generate granulation tissue or scarring. Over time, it forms a scab that ultimately falls on its own. Under the care of it, is scar tissue grows or as it was before the injury without a trace of trauma.
